Hear the echo?
“Life is an echo” is part of a famous quote by Zig Ziglar, an American motivational speaker, writer, and salesman who didn’t die with his music inside of him. Instead, he gave his gifts to the world, and his legacy continues to go on. Ziglar is best known for incorporating his life values into his work – and the famous quote, “Life is an echo.” This phrase is another way of saying, “What you sow, you shall reap.”
But what does it really mean?
Echo by definition means sound waves that reverberate back to their origin.
This definition metaphorically translates to, “What you give out, you will receive back.”
If you shout in a cave, the walls throw the sound back towards you. It is a copy of what you said in the first place.
Following this logic, if you treat others like crap, you will be treated like crap in return. However, if you level up and start treating others with more respect, you will likely receive respect in return!
Making the Echo Factor Work for You
The Echo factor works, and here’s how it may work in everyday life.
Let’s say that you have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and your best friend Amy always tells you, “Oh, that’s a silly diagnosis. There isn’t anything wrong with you. You just need to get more sleep. I’m always tired just like you, and you don’t see me running around complaining about some silly yuppie illness.”
Instead of getting frustrated with Amy, ending the friendship and telling her that she’s an idiotic friend (while you angrily convince her that your illness is real), simply let it go.
Simply accept that Amy (and other people like Amy) may never, ever understand your chronic illness and that’s okay. Their lack of empathy doesn’t diminish the fact that you have a real illness and their action shouldn’t upset you.
That analysis of your condition is their perception and their perception alone. By choosing to not discuss your illness with anyone who won’t support you or understand, you leave behind the people who won’t take you and your struggles seriously.
By simply changing your focus to something more positive, you eliminate stress and attract more good and happiness in your life.
Your Time to Succeed is Now
Don’t wait for success to drop into your lap. Make your own success happen with positive thoughts and actions. Be brave. Be confident. Have faith in your abilities. Be the best person you can be, and you will attract those same type of people into your life.
Echo love, success, and gratitude and these qualities will flow back to you!
